Martyr (2023) is a video installation composed of grayscale vignettes that follow four young Hispanic men across a rural Northern California landscape. Over its duration, the installation’s muddled aesthetic interacts with how we recall and interpret shared narratives within such ecological environments, providing our internal dialogues the opportunity to center these men as the only visible inhabitants. Through its duration, Martyr asks: What happens within this region as inhabitants pass on and leave behind descendants?
